DHH reacts to CodeGear’s move to Rails
David Heinemeier Hansson, the creator of Rails, was kind enough to offer me this reaction to the news of CodeGear coming to Rails:
“It’s encouraging to see the Rails ecosystem extend itself to include commercial tool vendors. I heartily welcome CodeGear to the arena and I’m excited to see what they come up with. It’s a wonderful time for users and vendors alike in the world of Rails.”
Advanced tooling is an inevitable and welcome step in the growth of any language. I am quite fond of Vim and Textmate, like many in our community, so CodeGear has their work cut out for them. Like David, I’m excited to see where this goes. Good times, indeed.

Mike,
Very nice indeed
CodeGears looks really interesting and I’m also interested to see where this goes.
This is great news about a Rails IDE. A suggestion for Codegear: you may have heard of the political website DailyKos – http://www.dailykos.com. They are redoing their entire site, switching from Scoop to Rails. It’s a very large project and perhaps CG can help in this effort, perhaps even field test the new IDE.
See this post here on their choice of Rails over Django and Perl:
